The Poured Collection is the result of more than two years of material research and experimentation. Flensted sought to find the perfect balance between his control as the designer and the material's own natural behavior. The collection is handmade in Copenhagen, Denmark, using a mixture of mineral powder, water-based acrylic polymer, and a small amount of pigment.
Each object in the Poured Collection is a 'frozen moment' of the time of creation. The material is poured into a mold, where it flows together and creates patterns that are difficult to predict. The addition of pigment adds a touch of color to the objects, making each one unique. The minimalistic shape of the objects allows the material's characteristics to shine.
The Poured Collection includes bowls, plates, and tables. The bowls come in two sizes, with dimensions of 10 x 4.5 cm and 19 x 5.5 cm. The plates measure 30 x 2.5 cm, while the tables have dimensions of 40 x 45 cm. All objects are sealed with a food-safe sealant, although it is not recommended to use them for oily substances or wash them in the dishwasher. The tables are sealed with a waterproof coating to prevent stains.
Flensted's research into materials and pigments has resulted in a design that is not only visually stunning but also functional. The Poured Collection was first introduced in January 2016, and since then, it has garnered attention for its unique patterns and craftsmanship. The collection was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017, recognizing its outstanding creativity and contribution to the art and design field.
The Poured Collection is a testament to Flensted's dedication to creating objects that are both visually captivating and technically innovative. With its handmade nature and unpredictable patterns, this collection adds a touch of uniqueness to any space.
